SHORT BIO

Nyuiring-yoh "Shifu" Shifu-Nfor is a Lagos-based software engineer and founder building resilient, offline-first technology for real-world African constraints. He's the founder of NFORSHIFU LOGICFORGE LTD, creator of WishIT — a digital tribute platform used across 85+ countries — and lead researcher on HealthHub AI, a multilingual offline symptom-triage system published in the International Journal of Computer Applications.

LONG BIO

Shifu started coding out of necessity — teaching himself HTML, CSS, and JavaScript on his father's old laptop to build a website for a t-shirt brand he ran in secondary school. That constraint-first instinct shaped everything after: WishIT, born from wanting to make grief and celebration more permanent online; and HealthHub AI, a rule-based triage system built to work offline, in 14 languages, for communities where a hospital or reliable internet isn't a given. He now runs NFORSHIFU LOGICFORGE LTD, building the case that Africa's next wave of tech infrastructure should be engineered for its actual constraints — unreliable power, expensive data, low-end devices — not adapted from systems built for none of those problems.

STORY ANGLES

Ready-made hooks for interviews, profiles, and features.

A t-shirt brand that accidentally created a software engineer
A failed need for a website in secondary school — not a bootcamp, not a CS class — is what put Shifu in front of HTML for the first time. Five years later that same instinct produced a published healthcare AI system.
Engineering for the constraints Silicon Valley never has to think about
Unreliable power, expensive data, low-end devices — HealthHub AI runs fully offline in 14 languages because "just use the cloud" isn't an option for the people it's built for. A concrete look at what constraint-first engineering actually means in practice.
Undergrad thesis, peer-reviewed journal
HealthHub AI started as a B.Sc. Computer Information Systems thesis at Babcock University and ended up published in the International Journal of Computer Applications — with 100% emergency-classification accuracy across 63 test cases. Not the usual path from classroom project to published research.
A product in 85+ countries, built from a Lagos hostel
WishIT reached users across 85+ countries with zero paid marketing, while its founder was living in a Babcock University hostel room. The gap between where a product is used and where it's built is the story.
