Not your
typical
dev story.
I'm Nyuiring-yoh — everyone calls me Shifu (iamnotshifu) because they claim the pronunciation is quite difficult 😅. Self-taught since 2020. Founder of NFORSHIFU234 Dev. Microsoft Azure certified. Building WishIT. Final year at Babcock. All at once.
THE ORIGIN STORY 📍
From Yaoundé to Lagos,
one problem at a time
Started life in Lagos, Nigeria, primary school at GoldValley Nursery and Primary School in Ojodu Berger, then moved to Yaoundé, Cameroon for secondary school at Baptist High School. Two countries, two languages before 18. That shaped everything about how I think.
The real origin isn't a bootcamp. In 2018 I started a t-shirt business called In Bronx. Made real profit. Hit a wall: needed a website, had zero budget. Decided to build it myself. That one decision changed everything.
By Sep 2020 I'd founded NFORSHIFU234 Dev. After an extra SSS3 year for JAMB, enrolled at Babcock in 2022 with real coding experience already in hand.
In 2024 I faced an academic interruption. Used that time to land my first production internship at Vas2Nets Technologies — building automation that actually changed how teams worked. Every detour built something.
The name iamnotshifu? I am definitely Shifu (Master Shifu from Kung Fu Panda 😅). The "not" is ironic — denying something obvious makes it stick. 😄
Code like a student. Build like a founder. Show up like a brand.

HOW I THINK 🧠
The principles
I actually live by
Ship, then improve
Shipped > perfect. I'd rather release v1 and iterate in public than polish a private idea forever. Execution creates momentum. Feedback sharpens direction.
Naija-to-global
Built from Nigeria. Designed for the world. Power cuts and slow Wi-Fi trained me. If it works here, it works anywhere.
Document everything
The internet gave me leverage for free. I pay it forward — share the path so the next builder doesn't start from zero.
Impact over impressions
I measure success by usefulness, not vanity metrics. If what I build helps someone ship faster or access opportunity in their language — that's the win.
Context is everything
Building for Lagos isn't the same as building for San Francisco. Device limits, bandwidth realities, language diversity — I design for real-world conditions.
Consistency beats talent
I show up daily. Build, document, refine, repeat. Discipline compounds louder than raw talent ever could.
Stewardship over ego
I build for the long term — responsibility over hype, systems over shortcuts, sustainability over noise. The goal isn't attention; it's legacy.
PORTFOLIO EVOLUTION 🎨
How my online presence
evolved alongside my skills
From Bootstrap basics to Next.js systems. Each portfolio reflects where I was as a developer, and what I'd learned since the last one. Not a portfolio hall of fame — a progression of thinking.
First Pre-Portfolio
Where it all started — raw, functional, no frills
THEME
Bootstrap basics
FOCUS
Foundational web skills
My very first portfolio website. The focus was on getting something live and learning as I went. No frameworks, just vanilla HTML/CSS and Bootstrap.
💡 Lesson: Shipping > perfection. Getting something live taught me more than months of planning ever could.
TECH STACK

Halloween Portfolio
Bringing personality into design — spooky edition
THEME
Thematic & festive
FOCUS
Animation & personality
A special Halloween-themed portfolio showcasing creative animations and festive design. This was about experimenting with motion and personality.
💡 Lesson: Design isn't just about aesthetics — it's about personality. Themed experiences stick with people.
TECH STACK

Main Portfolio (v1)
Leveling up — React, GSAP, Three.js, and production-grade design
THEME
React + advanced animations
FOCUS
Framework mastery & motion design
A major upgrade using React for component architecture, GSAP for smooth animations, and Three.js for 3D elements. Marked the shift from static to interactive.
💡 Lesson: Frameworks enable complexity, but motion should serve purpose, not distract.
TECH STACK

PROJECT ORBIT (current)
The full picture — scalable architecture, accessible design, and systems thinking
THEME
Next.js + design systems
FOCUS
Systems design & performance
Complete redesign using Next.js for performance and TypeScript for reliability. Focus shifted from 'fancy' to 'functional and beautiful'.
💡 Lesson: Constraints breed creativity. Systems thinking makes scaling possible. Performance is a feature.
TECH STACK

Portfolio design is product design. It's not just showcasing work — it's showing your thinking evolution. Each iteration is a commitment to growth and the belief that "what I shipped last month can be better next month." 🚀
BUILDER EVOLUTION 📅
2004 → now
every real step
Not the cleaned-up LinkedIn version. Crèche, primary in Ojodu Berger, secondary in Cameroon, t-shirt business, suspension, internships, certs — all of it.
Foundation Years — Nigeria & Cameroon
Crèche through Primary 6 in Ojodu Berger, then secondary school at Baptist High School Yaoundé. Six years of French immersion, GCE Science, and growing up fast away from home.
In Bronx — First Business
Started selling t-shirts under 'In Bronx'. Made real profit. Hit a wall: needed a website, had no budget. Decided to build it myself. That decision changed everything.
Back in Nigeria — JAMB Prep
Returned to Nigeria after graduating Form 5. Did an extra SSS3 year to write JAMB and prepare for university.
First line of code
Self-taught HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — not from a bootcamp, directly because of In Bronx. Built something ugly that worked. Got completely hooked.
Founded NFORSHIFU234 Dev
Founded the studio behind dev tools, websites, and automation solutions as a freelancing name. Still running 5+ years later.
Babcock University — Enrolled
Started B.Sc. Computer Information Systems. Walked in with real coding experience. The degree formalised what I knew and introduced what I didn't.
Academic interruption — Used it as a pivot
Faced a suspension from Babcock in 2024. Used that time to secure my first production-level tech internship at Vas2Nets Technologies — writing automation that actually changed how teams worked.
Secured first automation internship — Vas2Nets
Built automation APIs reducing manual workflows by 90%. Stack: CodeIgniter, PHP, Tailwind CSS. First time code I wrote changed how real humans worked every day.
Microsoft Azure Certified
Earned Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals through Microsoft Student Ambassadors – Imagine Cup.
Nigeria French Language Village — Course Rep
Elected Course Rep for Module Un. Led independence day event on a tight budget—managed doubters, coordinated execution. Hit conflict with an instructor that went to Student Affairs; almost got expelled. Swallowed pride, asked for help, got 12 teachers to sign a support letter. Came out improved.
Led full-scale production website — IDS Africa
Trusted to revamp ids-africa.com with complete ownership — design, architecture, development, and production deployment.
Invested in IFÈ Bike — Transportation Future
Backed a bicycle-sharing platform launching in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Supporting sustainable mobility solutions. Limited edition supporter hoodie in hand. 🌱
Medier Agency — Remote EU Contract
Localisation testing and GDPR compliance for EU-based projects. Certified in GDPR, AML, Information Security, Responsible Gaming, and Onboarding.
Expanding into AI-driven product development
Graduating May 2026. Defending HealthHub AI. WishIT scaling to 30+ countries. 5+ years of NFORSHIFU234 Dev. Same person who started because he needed a website for a t-shirt brand.

FAQ ❓
Questions people
actually ask
Are you available for freelance or contract work?
Yes — selectively. I take on websites, web apps, automation systems, and UI-heavy projects that are interesting, impactful, or stretch my skillset. If it's just routine work, I'll probably pass. Reach out via the contact form or Instagram.
Self-taught or degree — which matters more?
Both. Being self-taught gave me speed and hunger. My B.Sc. gave me computer science fundamentals and forced collaboration. One built instinct. The other built structure.
How do you manage school, WishIT, and content simultaneously?
You don't "balance" three big things — you rotate focus. Some seasons school wins. Some seasons the product wins. One thing may eventually have to give, but you don't rush that decision. You build capacity first.
Can I contribute to your open source libraries?
Absolutely. Both packages live on GitHub under nforshifu234dev. PRs, issues, and documentation improvements are always welcome.
What does iamnotshifu even mean?
I am definitely Shifu. The 'not' started as irony — denying something obvious makes it more memorable. It stuck. 😄
